A Novel Method for Real Time Protection of DC Microgrid Using Cumulative Summation and Wavelet Transform

DC microgrid is a compact framework comprising interconnected nearby sources and loads. The renewable energy source used in microgrids being intermittent leads to the change power availability as well fault current levels. In such situations, detecting clearing faults very important protect without compromising on time interruption of load. This paper proposes hybrid Cumulative Sum (CumSum) Wavelet transform-based approach detect fault. CumSum value raises amplitude by averaging current. transforms obtain features decomposing signal. method analysis proposed here enables detection differentiates condition from sudden load variation. Additionally, it helps recognize location wavelet difference. scheme tested with developed ring-type low voltage (LVDC) hardware model under various conditions. implemented using TMS320F28069 digital signal processors (DSP) Texas Instruments. results are validated MATLAB simulation. performance also compared existing methods for protection. outcome shows that has high accuracy 98.72%, selectivity 96.08%, reliability 99.01%. execution required less.
